    Modern Day John

Last year: 2000 was a break through year for Modern Day John. We saw our following go from a handful of local loyalists to a region of die hard fans. Playing over 85 dates in three states showed us that we are doing what we really love to do. Seeing lives touched and making new friends showed that we are doing what God wants us to do. We received radio airplay on 3 singles from our first CD (God Shaped Peace). We got to play venues with such national acts as The Newsboys, Skillet, Audio A, DC Talk, Pillar, Salvador, All Star United, and BUCK. We were honored with the Crosswalk.Com Indie Artist of the Year Award. In October and after much prayer, we incorporated and became a non-profit ministry. Freddy quit his day job and took a major leap of faith to commit his life to this ministry- full time. We spent the better half of six months in the studio recording our second CD. Finally, we released our new CD (Lucid) in late December. I'd say that we had a full plate but we are definitely still hungry. And 2001 promises to be even better. To God be the glory! Our heart: Since it's inception in 1998, Modern Day John has had the privilege to play our music in front of a lot of people. It's been a really cool journey- even though it is still just the beginning. We have seen many lives touch by Christ through our music. It has always been our vision to first serve and obey God. Playing our music for you is really cool, but we are so blessed when we see and feel the Almighty using us. Our heart's desire is that we live our lives worthy of hearing our Savior say, "Well done." We look forward to what is in store for MDJ in the near future and beyond. Our music: We really cannot put a finger on a specific style for our sound. We have always just written and played what came from our hearts. I will say that we possess a definite fondness for loud, fat, groove based sounds. Along with that sonic boom is the unmistakable, upfront lyrical content that makes MDJ a powerful witness. We want to take listeners to a different place when they experience our music- closer to God. We want to make people think about what really is important. We want to call believers to action and show unbelievers the saving Grace that is only found in Jesus.
