Mickey Mouse is a comic animal cartoon character who has become an icon for The Walt Disney Company. Mickey Mouse was created in 1928 by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks, and voiced by Walt Disney. The Walt Disney Company celebrates his birth as November 18, 1928 upon the release of "Steamboat Willie".
Mickey was originally voiced by Walt Disney himself, but in 1946 the honor was passed to Jimmy MacDonald. Although Walt voiced Mickey again for the introductions of the original "Mickey Mouse Club" (1954-1959) TV series and the "Fourth Anniversary Show" episode of the "Disneyland" TV series aired on September 11, 1958. From 1983 the voice of Mickey has been Wayne Allwine, who died on May 18, 2009. Since June 2009, Mickey has been voiced by Bret Iwan.
