MD.45 was a one-off side project that included Megadeth's Dave Mustaine (guitar), Fear's Lee Ving (vocals), Jimmy DeGrasso (drums) and Kelly Lemieux (bass). The Craving was originally released in 1996, however, it was remastered in 2004 when Dave Mustaine remixed & remastered the Megadeth back catalog. The remaster does not include Lee Ving's original vocal tracks or harmonica parts due to the master tapes being lost. So, instead of tracking down Lee and re-recording his vocals and harmonica, Dave did the vocals and simulated the harmonica on guitar. The MD in MD.45 is Dave Mustaine's initials backwards and the 45 is Lee Ving's reversed initials in Roman numerals. Dave Mustaine, wanted to create an album showcasing a different musical style than Megadeth. MD.45 History The first (and only) album released was The Craving in Japan first on May 29, 1996 and in other nations on July 23, 1996. Almost a decade later, while Capitol Records was releasing remastered versions of Megadeth's back catalog, Dave Mustaine chose to remaster The Craving. According to the liner notes, during the remastering process, it was realized that the vocal track and harmonica track were missing. To complete the remaster, Mustaine chose to do the vocals himself and simulate the harmonica parts on the guitar.
