Angel Mauricio Silva is a Venezuelan musician who works as a composer, arranger, producer, pianist, trombonist, vocalist and orchestra conductor.
He has a musical lineage which he inherited from his grandfather Manuel Silva Linares and his father Miguel Ángel Silva, the latter stood out as bassist of the Gerry Weil Jazz Trio, the Billo's Caracas Boys, Los Melódicos Orchestra and Porfi Jiménez among others; while his uncle Rafael Silva was an outstanding Venezuelan trombonist.
Mauricio has worked in personal projects as "Silva y Guerra", along producer and musician Manuel Guerra, also founded in association with Oscar D' León, La Critica orchestra , also was a close collaborator of El Trabuco Venezolano. Recently Silva started tribute projects to Salsa's legacy as musical genre, through of "El Legado de La Salsa Venezolana" and "El Legado de La Salsa Mundial", both of them, collaboratives projects where he shares with some reputed musicians of Salsa's environment.
Some of his brothers are also musicians. Josué Miguel Silva stood out as trumpeter for the Mauricio Silva Orchestra, Magia Caribeña, La Sonora Dinamita and others. Unfortunately Joshua died on May 31, 2000 (the same day that teacher Tito Puente left us) after fighting for more than 2 years with leukemia.
Daniel Silva is another of his brothers who started with Mauricio and became a bassist for Oscar D'León's project named La Critica, also worked at Grupo Tres, Oscar D'León's orchestra, Silva y Guerra, Grupo Niche and La Dimensión Latina .
Mauricio Silva was always interested in training very well in his profession, so he studied with great musicians from Venezuela and abroad such as Manuel Contramaestre, Daniel Milano, Miguel Silva, Alberto Naranjo, Danilo Perez, Juan Domené and Carlos Franzetti. In his early years, Silva studied at the music schools "Roberto Marcano", "Lino Gallardo" and at Berklee School of Music.
His daughters are Karen Silva and Johanna Silva, ex-wife; Ana Caceres, mother of Luisana Royero.
Mauricio Silva migrated from Venezuela beginning the decade of 2010, to explore horizons beyond the borders of his country.
