Mats Glenngård

Swedish violinist and multi-instrumentalist, born April 18, 1952 in Norrköping. He was a member of the folk rock band Kebnekajse. He has contributed to introducing folk music into Swedish rock. Glenngård grew up in a musical family, where his father played the trumpet and modern piano. Mats Glenngård started playing the violin in the municipal music school, and also learned to play the guitar, but without lessons and notes. As a young man he was a member of the groups Funny Faces and Homo Sapiens, which played pop rock inspired by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. He then began a collaboration with Kenny Håkansson from Mecki Mark Men, who formed the rock band Kebnekajse. Homo Sapiens, who had specialized in vocals, appeared as "Homo Sapiens choir" on Kebnekajse's debut album "Journey to an Unknown Goal" (1971). After that, the band ended up in Kebnekajse. Mats Glenngård was a member of Kebnekajse between 1971 and 1978, and returned to the group when it re-emerged in 2001. He has also released two solo albums, Kosterläge and Violin race. He has also played as a studio and concert musician with a long line of artists.
