American producer, songwriter and singer, born May 31, 1950 – died March 22, 1985. He was married to Natalie Cole (daughter of Nat King Cole) from 1976 until their divorce in 1980. Yancy then pastored his late father's church and recorded a handful of gospel albums, until 1985 when he suffered a fatal heart attack at age 34.
He was also part of a successful producer/songwriter duo Chuck Jackson & Marvin Yancy, who produced and co-wrote many of Natalie's biggest hits as well as Ronnie Dyson, Phyllis Hyman, The Impressions and many more.
