Malaria!

About

German all female new wave band, formed in Berlin January 1981.

Starting as a duo of Bettina Köster and Gudrun Gut (both formerly of Mania D.), their debut 12" was intriguingly recorded at Christoph Franke Studio in Berlin, and produced by Klaus Krüger. Soon after, Manon Duursma (Nina Hagen Band), Christine Hahn (The Static / Glenn Branca) and Susanne Kuhnke (Die Haut) entered the band, and they released the album "Emotion!" in 1982. After the release of "Beat the Distance" in 1984, they disbanded, with Koster and Hahn moving to the US.

In 1991, Köster, Gut, and Duursma got back together and restarted Malaria.
