Magic De Spell
    Magic De Spell

Originally a New Wave band formed in late 1979 in Athens, Greece by Theodore Vlachakis (drums, and only constant member), George Skarlatos (bass, and main writer of the band's New Wave period) and Αλέξης Κυριακάκης (vocals), with George Alahouzos (guitar) soon joining in.

Their first live appearance was in September 1980 at 'Rock Club Tiffany's' (Plaka, Athens) along with Dalton's Family. In February 1981 they perform live at 'Cine Κνωσσός' (Πλ. Αμερικής, Athens) along with Παρθενογένεσις & Homicide. After releasing the Nightmare EP (one of the earliest Greek post-punk releases), Alahouzos and Kyriakakis depart in 1982.

New vocalist Elias Aslanoglou enters the band, and the trio of Skarlatos / Vlahakis / Aslanoglou (with some additional musicians, like Thanassis Skarlatos and Yannis Rodites) go on to release 3 albums: 1983's "A Body In A Snare", 1984's "Kiss the Mirror" and 1985's "Cpt Blind". In October 1984, they play live along with Χωρίς Περιδέραιο. In 28/9/1985 they perform live at Θέατρο Πολύτεχνο (Athens), along with Villa 21, [a=Anti Troppau Council], Venericna Bolest & Nine Lives.

After the third album, the band goes on hiatus, and Vlahakis with Aslanoglou form Alice In A Nightmare, releasing an eponymous album in 1988.

After Alice In A Nightmare ends, Vlahakis and Aslanoglou decide to start using the Magic De Spell name again, this time getting new musicians and changing the style of the band completely. Now using Greek instead of English lyrics, the sound of the band turns to Alternative Rock / Entechno. First album of this period was Διακοπές Στο Sarajevo released in 1993.

After 2 more albums Aslanoglou left the band in 1997, leaving Vlahakis as the only original member to play in the group.
