Los Polares

Los Polares was born in El Masnou (Barcelona) in the late 50s. Three friends, all teenagers, Antonio Andreu, Francesc Aznar and Juan Antonio Bautista, shared their talents and passion in a band called Los Polaris (they changed one letter later). After the addition of the drummer Adolfo Nieto and the singer Fernando Chica, they took part in a Beat band contest in Recklinghausen (Germany) in February 1966. Percy & The Gaolbirds from Enger (Germany) won the contest, and Los Polares was voted 5th. This success led them to remain in Germany for six months, playing in Dortmund, Munich, Fürth, Essen, Straubing… In 1966 an EP was released by Sono Play with covers of The Pretty Things, The Isley Brothers or The Mamas & The Papas. They recorded another EP some months later, but it wasn’t released until 2018, by Madmua Records.
