Mexican trio. Also named "Trio Los Montejos", "Los Tres Montejo" / "Los 3 Montejo".
At first, the "Los Jilguerillos Trio" was created, made up of Enrique "Coqui" Novelo Navarro (Enrique "Coqui" Navarro), René Frías Alonzo, "Salchicha" and Leopoldo García Bestard, "Polo". Later, Enrique and René separated from the trio and Eduardo Novelo Estrada and Rafael Villalobos Vázquez, a short time later Leopoldo separated and Fernando Fernández May joined, and in this way the Trío Los Montejo was integrated in 1958. They achieved success at a time when large-scale trios proliferated in Mexico. Artistic atmosphere and the competition was great, but they were considered one of the best trios in Latin America, but above all a pride for Yucatan and for all of Mexico.
In 1959, the trio recorded their first LP, where hits such as “La señal”, “Linda boca”, “Hasta hoy” y “Que divino sería”, among others. Since then to date they have recorded around 50 LPs. They traveled throughout Central and South America as well as cities in the United States and Spain. Within their artistic career they have reinforced the Romantic Yucatecan Trova and honored Mexican and foreign authors with their music from yesterday, today and forever.
