Soul singer Archie (Aashid) Himons born on 22 September 1942 in Huntington, West Virginia, U.S. and died March 2011 in Nashville TN. at the age of 68. Archie (Aashid) Himons had lived all over the world and first came to Nashville in the early 1960s and recorded 4 sides for Buddy Killen's Dial label under the name "Little Archie" he stood 6'7". After more traveling he returned and settled in Nashville in 1979. Known as the "Lion Of Nashville" and in the 1980s had a well loved Blues-Reggae band named "African Dreamland", they were the first reggae band on MTV in 1984. Aashid hosted a cable access TV program "Aashid Presents". His solo work in the 1990s moved into ambient and space music. His motto was "One Heart".
