The center's first three buildings, David Geffen Hall (formerly Avery Fisher Hall, originally named Philharmonic Hall), David H. Koch Theater (formerly the New York State Theater) and the Metropolitan Opera House were opened in 1962, 1964 and 1966, respectively. Additionally, the Alice Tully Hall (part of the Julliard School) was modernized and reopened in 2009. It also encompasses the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center. In total, there are a total of 30 different venues with 13 individual venues, 11 of which are connected to the main buildings together with two, the David Rubenstein Atrium and Jazz At Lincoln Center.
