Scruggs-style American bluegrass banjo player. Father of guitarist David Grier. Born April 15, 1938. Died December 10, 2019.
Grier played live & recorded with Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys from 1965-1967, and also played and recorded with Hazel Dickens And Alice Gerrard, Peter Rowan and Tex Logan. In the 1970s he was a member of Buzz Busby's band and recorded several albums with him. He retired from music in 1984.
