Lakay

Cyril Caillat, alias Lakay, French trumpeter and multi instrumentalist, made his big leap in electronic music in the early 2000s. Listening to his projects, a first album "Enjoy People" (Hadra Records) released in 2011 followed by "Metis'Sage Community" released in 2015 (Hadra Records and Salamah Productions), it is easy to understand that we are dealing with a travel lover, whether physically or musically. Initiated to the trumpet at the age of 5, Lakay trained at the Grenoble Conservatory, and sailed from classical to jazz classes, from which he concocted a unique pigment which colors his musical identity. His multiple trips, from Thailand to Reunion via Spain, are punctuated by musical stops accompanied by a lot of jams. He discovers traditional gypsy, African or even Indian music which will enrich his palette. This mix of influences is harmonized by powerful electronic beats, from dub to psytrance, embellished with the energy of drum’n’bass. Movement of beings around the world, wandering spirit and dancing bodies, stands out as the raw material of Lakay’s work. In short, Lakay is an artist who delves into the minds and cultures of the world to awaken the energy of his listeners
