Kuroi Jukai

About

Obscure Canadian powerviolence/noisegrind act from Edmonton Alberta, briefly active during 2015. Their Japanese name 黒い樹海 ("Kuroi Jukai") translated into English means "The Black Sea of Trees". The band fused an extreme form of hardcore punk and grindcore with elements of harsh noise and industrial electronics resulting in a quite chaotic and experimental sound, and their only self-titled mini album which was 10 minutes long was released on tape in 2015 by Aught/Void and featured a live recording from the band's only ever known gig as a bonus track. The release was eventually remastered and reissued (minus the live bonus track) on vinyl in 2020 by Sentient Ruin. The band's current fate and status remain unknown.
