Kresten Osgood

Danish jazz musician, drummer, composer and multi-instrumentalist, born December 7, 1976 in Lemvig. As a drummer he has performed with several internationally famous musicians in many different constellations. In addition to the drum kit, he is also known as a Hammond organist and rapper in the group Ikscheltaschel. He was born in Lemvig in West Jutland and was musically educated at Holstebro Music School's conservatory preparatory program MGK from 1993 to 1996. He continued at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen (RMC) from 1997 to 2002. From 2004-2020 employed at RMC. Member of the musician collective ILK, former member of DJBFA, now called Autor's board. Listed in Krak's Blue Book in 2023. Recipient of several awards, including a Steppeulv as musician of the year, DJBFA honorary award, Ben Webster Award, Leo Mathisen Award, and Ken Gudman Award. Kresten Osgood has hosted the DR program Øreflip and been part of the panel in the DR2 program Smagsdommerne. He has been behind several radio programs, including "Osgoods Jazz" on DR P8 JAZZ and the podcast series about 100 years of Danish jazz history "Farlige Toner" on DR Lyd. Osgood has played with legends such as Roscoe Mitchell, Paul Bley, Lee Scratch Perry, William Parker, Masabumi Kikuchi, Derek Bailey, Wadada Leo Smith, Jason Moran, Michael Blake, Oliver Lake, Kurt Rosenwinkel, John Tchicai, Tim Berne, Justin Vernon, Peter Brötzman, Joshua Redman, Eugene Chadbourne, Billy Preston, Alan Silva, Brad Mehldau, John Russell, Bunky Green, Louis Moholo Moholo, Bennie Maupin, The National, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Sam Rivers, Henry Grimes, Dr. Yusef Lateef, Warren Smith, and many others.
