Koen De Bruyne

Belgian pianist, arranger and composer (born 1946-03-23, died 1977-07-28). Son of Arthur De Bruyne, brother of Joost De Bruyne (1944-1976) and Kris De Bruyne (1950-2021). Began his career as a classical pianist, playing with the Koninklijk Filharmonisch Orkest Van Vlaanderen and teaching at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen. After being in a coma due to a an accident, he decided to focus more on jazz and the electric piano, eventually becoming one of the most prominent studio musicians in Belgium, working for both jazz and pop artists, varying from his brother Kris De Bruyne to Janko Nilovic (with Mad Unity). He only released two solo albums, one of which is noted for being an early experimental electronic soundtrack album for the movie In Kluis by Jan Gruyaert. Koen De Bruyne died in 1977 from a stroke while he was producing [r3603794]; its opening song Oh Producer is dedicated to him.
