They began in the early 80's as Shylock, as a Swedish glam rock band from Skövde. Singer back then was J.K. Knox. They recorded a demo in 1983. 1984 they changed their name to Kingpin and recorded some more demos, from which some of the songs would appear on the debut album. Before the album was recorded they changed their singer to Zinny J. Zan. After that they was repackaged, renamed as Shotgun Messiah, and marketed as a hard rock band (and ultimately moving into industrial music, before disbanding).
