Gospel singer and mother of Miki Howard. She was a longtime member of The Caravans from 1963 to 1967. She made her live television debut on national television shows such as TV Gospel Time and Jubilee Showcase. In 1967, Howard alongside other longtime members, James Herndon and Delores Washington all left the group to pursue solo careers and form their own groups. During this brief hiatus, she joined and performed with James Herndon and The Herndon Singers. In 1976, Josephine reunited with the Caravans to record an album for the Birthright Records label with all new material titled "Share", featuring special guest on piano, Isaiah Jones,Jr. After 1976, she would perform with the group members occasionally on reunion concerts. Josephine died on December 31, 1978 at the age of 41.
