    His childhood friend Stacy Lattisaw convinced him to record a demo. He found himself with a record contract with Cotillion.
    In 1987 he replaced Bobby Brown in New Edition.
    Has duetted with Stacy Lattisaw, Shabba Ranks, Roger Troutman and Shanice. He has released seven solo albums and one with Stacy Lattisaw.
