John Zambetti

Original founding member of The Malibooz, 1963. Band morphed into Sageworth and Drum (later shortened to Sageworth) in fall 1966. Once Zambetti graduated from Georgetown University, he started the band Wine-Dark-Sea. (Some of the group's tunes are featured in the short film Jigsaw Puzzle). Zambetti started medical school in 1971 in New York but continued to perform solo in clubs during his schooling. He cut an album (so far unreleased) with old Malibooz bandmate Walter Egan in 1975. Following medical school, Zambetti moved to California in 1976 joining Egan's band and simultaneously starting his own The Johnny Z Band as well. Since the 1981 reunion album for Rhino, Zambetti has re-focused on The Malibooz.
