He studied composition in Freiburg under Klaus Huber, Emmanuel Nunes, and Mathias Spahlinger. In addition, he attended courses in conducting with Peter Eötvös and music theory under Peter Förtig.
He works together with numerous ensembles of contemporary music (Ensemble Modern, Ensemble l’instant donné, ensemble recherche, Neue Vocalsolisten, ensemble ascolta, Das Neue Ensemble, and others).
