American Gospel singer and songwriter. Co-founded the Southern Gospel Singing group [a=The Hemphills] with his wife, [a=Labreeska Hemphill]. The couple signed with Canaan Records in 1966 to record as a duo then soon followed with the group. Born in Fresno, California, USA. Father of [a3829601] (Joey), [a2615006], and [a1193337], who joined them on stage. He was nominated ten times by the Gospel Music Association as song writer of the year. "He's Still Workin' On Me," "Every Need Supplied," "Master of the Wind," "Consider the Lilies," "I Claim the Blood," "Let's Have a Revival" and over 350 more were all penned by him. Hemphill wrote more than 100 songs including “Consider The Lilies,” “Jesus Saves,” “Master Of The Wind,” “I Claim The Blood,” and The Hemphills’ biggest hit "He's Still Workin' On Me."
