Jody Wayne

Born: September 25, 1944 in Bangalore, India. Died: March 14, 2022 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Jody Wayne was a South African vocalist who lives in Johannesburg. Born in Bangalore, India to Canadian parents. The family later moved to Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia). Jody moved to Durban, South Africa in 1964 and formed the band “Little Jo & The Travelers”. After their break-up 18 months later Jody formed “Jody Wayne Scene” which later became “Guys & Dolls”. In the 1970s he started producing and 'discovered' artists such as Barbara Ray, Gwynneth Ashley Robins, Neil Herbert, and The Stockley Sisters. Between the 1960s and 1990s Jody was one of the biggest names in South African music and he produced 27 Gold and Platinum Discs as a singer and 23 as a producer. He was still active doing live performances during which he sang mainly country music.
