JoBoxers

About

JoBoxers is a London-based band fronted by American expat Dig Wayne, with Rob Marche (guitar), Dave Collard (keyboards), Chris Bostock (bass), and Sean McLusky (drums). Marche, Collard, Bostock and McLusky played several times with Dig Wayne in Soho clubs as Subway Sect before disbanding in 1982.

The band members kept in touch with Wayne and formed a quintet, taking on the name JoBoxers and moving to Ronnie Scott’s. In early 1983, JoBoxers hit the charts with their debut single, Boxerbeat, which reached #3 on the British charts in April. The Northern soul-infused follow-up Just Got Lucky also reached #3 with debut album Like Gangbusters reacking the UK Top 20, but later releases failed to match this early promise, and the band broke up after three years.
