    Jo Ann Campbell, born July 20, 1938 in Jacksonville (Florida) is a singer of Pop and Rock and Roll. She won numerous prizes as Majorette drum at Fletcher high schools. In 1954, she traveled to Europe as a dancer, then moved to New York, where she joined the troupe of Johnny Conrad Dancers and made several television appearances on shows such as The Milton Berle Show and The Colgate Comedy Hour. In 1956, Campbell decided to stop dancing to become a singer. She had her first contract with RKO-Point records in New York and released her first single "Where Ever You Go / I'm Coming Home Late Tonight" in 1956, without much success. She then signed a contract with Eldorado records after playing at the Apollo theater in Harlem. She wrote and released her second single "Forever Young / Come On Baby" in 1957 [Eldorado 504]. Later that year, she recorded "Wait A Minute / (It's True) I'm In Love Whit You" for the label Gone records 5014, then "I Really, Really Love You / I'm Nobody's Now" Gone 5037 in 1958. Meanwhile, she appeared in The Brooklyn Paramount and in Dick Clark's American Bandstand Show. Campbell played in two films, Go, Johnny Go (1959) and Hey Let's Twist (1962), while continuing to record for various labels including End records - Cameo records and ABC Paramount records among others. In June 1961, she reached No. 41 in the UK singles Charts with "Motocycle Michael". She had her biggest hit in August 1962 with "I'm The Girl From Wolverton Mountain", a response to the song "Wolverton Mountain" by Claude King. Some singles are released with the title "(I'm The Girl On) Wolverton mountain". The song reached # 38 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts. In April 1963, she continued with "Mother, Please! (I'd Rather Do It Myself", but the song only ranked # 88 on the Billboard. After her marriage to singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer Troy Seals, Campbell ended her solo career in 1964 and recorded two singles in 1965 "I Found A Love Oh What A Love / Who Do You Love" and "Same Old Feeling / Just Because" for Atlantic records under the name of Jo Ann & Troy.
