Jiří Suchý

Czech vocalist, lyricist, composer, writer, actor, comedian. Born October 1, 1931 in Plzeň (former Czechoslovakia). Founder of the [url=http://www.discogs.com/lists/Semafor-Theatre/1417]Semafor Theatre[/url] Prague. In late 1950s he played double bass with Akord Klub (lead by Viktor Sodoma sr.), the first documented Czechoslovak group ever to play rock’n’roll and rhythm’n’blues songs. He also composed the first original Czech rock’n’roll song ever to appear on a record (78 rpm shellac Supraphon 51655-M, 1958), “Blues pro tebe”, sung by Josef Zíma with the Karel Vlach Orchestra.
