Jerry Herman (born July 10, 1931, New York City, New York, USA – died December 26, 2019, Miami, Florida, USA) was an American composer and lyricist, who wrote the music and lyrics for "Milk and Honey", "Hello Dolly!", "Mame", "Mack and Mabel", "The Grand Tour", "Dear World" and "La Cage Aux Folles". He was nominated for the Tony Award five times, and won twice, for Hello, Dolly! and La Cage aux Folles. In 2009, Herman received the Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre. He won two Grammy awards and was a recipient of the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors.
