Born June 17th, 1922 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.
Died February 17th, 1980 at Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Brother of composer Van Alexander.
Best known for composing film music. He was a three-time Oscar nominee. He was known for his collaborations with Sam Peckinpah, Michael Winner and Clint Eastwood. Some of his film compositions include The Wild Bunch (1969), Straw Dogs (1971), The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976), The Enforcer (1976), The Gauntlet (1977), and many others.
