Jack Grodikski was a one-off alias adopted by renowned Belgian cartoonist and comics book author, Peyo, né Pierre Culliford (1928—1992), to participate in the fictitious band The Bowling Balls established by his son, Thierry Culliford, in 1976. Initially a plot element in "Germain et nous…" comic strip authored by Thierry with his close friend Frédéric Jannin for the Spirou magazine, the Bowling Balls became a full-fledged "spinoff" hoax, with several fake interviews, a bogus press kit, and other materials imitating the ensemble's existence. Peyo joined the mystification as the band's supposed producer and manager, Jack Grodikski, quoted in that early faux "ephemera" and credited on the debut 7" single, God Save The Night Fever, released by Spirou on 1 April 1979. (In reality, the Bowling Balls were self-managed and self-produced by Fred Jannin and Bert Bertrand, the sole two members fully engaged in music creation. Later on, Dan Lacksman from Telex also produced a few Bowling Balls tracks.)
