Isabelita is an actress and musician who was born i Bilbao in Northern Spain to Castilian parents. As a child she was sent to England to receive her formal education there. She then went on to study music at the Royal College of Music, and the Guildschool hall of music. From 1941 on she became a well-known radio host, specializing in Spanish & Latin-American repertoire. During the war time she also studied Spanish folklore under Spanish musicologist Eduardo Martinez Torner. In 1952 she moved to Canada, where continued her career as a musician in TV and on radio.
She is the mother of folk musician Karen James
