In 1981 pianist Ira Stein and oboist Russel Walder met when they both traveled to Boulder, Colorado to take a class from Ralph Towner and the members of Oregon. They were promptly signed by Windham Hill Records who released their first two albums. A third album for Narada followed in 1990, after which the two pursued solo careers.
