InFidelis

A phenomenal instrumental duet, combining their own expression and musical aesthetic with inspirations stemming from traditional music. The band's sound is based on the cooperation of two Polish folk instruments, the Płock fiddle and the Biłgoraj suka, reconstructed several years ago. InFidelis means Unfaithful. The duo is made up of Helena Matuszewska and Marta Sołek - multi-instrumentalists performing in many folk, classical, and even rock or jazz compositions. (translated from Polish to English, pardon any grammatical glitches) In a joint project, the artists draw on tradition but are not faithful to the routine. There are only two saints for them: Płock fidel and Biłgoraj bitch, Polish folk instruments that play with the nail technique. They appear in the main roles, complementing each other at the same time. They have a completely different temperament and sound. Bitch is fire, screaming teenager, and fidel is a stable lady with a velvet voice. Helena and Marta allow them a raw sound - howling, growling, bitching creak, dirt and dirt, playing techno, reggae and even metal. In their hands, not only instruments but also folk melodies get a new life. It's dirty music - it doesn't keep faithful to any genre, style or convention. Folk melodies are turned over, processed, looped in a looper. Several motifs from various regions of Poland can appear in one song - sometimes they are the most important part of the song, and sometimes they are only the background. This is not root music, faithfully played with researchers' achievements, but crown music - the starting point for your own search.
