Old-time fiddler from Salem, Missouri. Howe Teague was born in 1913 in a log cabin above Stone Hill Branch in Dent County, Missouri. He got his first fiddle when he was eight years old, and learned how to play from neighbors and especially his fiddle-playing uncle, Orville Cassidy (whose portrait is included in L.L. Broadfoot's "Pioneers of the Ozarks" collection from 1944).
