Mexican pianist, composer and singer, born in San Luis Potosí on January 28 1916 and died in Mexico City on November 15 1970. Father of Humberto Alvarez.
He was a "musical eccentric", composer of “spicy tunes” and children's music; authorized imitator of Agustin Lara and radio and film comedian. Famous for being the first pioneer of children's television and the first "uncle" of Mexican television.
