Helen Crawford

Organist and songwriter. Wife of pianist/organist Jesse Crawford.

Birth 20 Aug 1899 Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio Died: 15 Jan 1943 (aged 43) Bronx, Bronx County, New York, road accident.
She began playing professionally in local motion picture houses when she was eleven years old, and was soon playing on regular theatrical circuits. She met her husband, also a theatrical musician, when both were playing in Chicago in 1923. They were married within a year.
In 1926, the Crawfords began a seven-year engagement at the Paramaount Theater in New York City, where they played the twin organs on each side of the motion-picture houses's screen. She was the author of a number of instrumental songs.
