Harry Corbett OBE was the creator and first presenter of the children's show The Sooty Show, In 1976, following a heart attack, he sold the brand to his son Matthew Corbett although he continued to perform live shows and made occasional guest appearances in the television series. He died in his sleep in 1989 after performing to capacity audience at Weymouth Pavilion.
Born: 28th January 1918 in Bradford, West Riding of Yorkshire, England.
Died: 17th August 1989 in Weymouth, Dorset, England at the age of 71 from a heart attack.
