Hardy Fox (March 29, 1945 in Longview, Texas - October 30, 2018 in San Anselmo, California) was a co-founder of The Residents and The Cryptic Corporation, and was the primary composer for The Residents until 2017. He began releasing solo material as Charles Bobuck in 2012. Fox retired from The Residents and The Cryptic Corporation in 2015.


In October 2017, Fox confirmed that he was Charles Bobuck and that he was also a member of The Residents. Following this announcement, he began releasing music under this real name.

In September 2018, Fox posted his own obituary on his official website and social media pages, in advance of his own impending passing. His death from brain cancer was announced by his label on October 30, 2018. He was married to Steven Kloman.
