Gulzar an Indian poet/lyricist, who writes in Urdu, Punjabi and several other Hindi dialects. He was born Sampooran Singh Kalra on 18 August 1936 in Dina, Jhelum District, Punjab, British India (now a province of Pakistan). He adopted the pen name Gulzar when he became an author. Gulzar has collaborated with A.R. Rahman, Anu Malik, Shankar Ehsaan Loy and other music directors in Bollywood. He is married to Bollywood actress Rakhee Gulzar.
