Started playing with his brother David Sweetnam in Emile Ford & The Checkmates, spending two years backing Emile and three years (without Emile) as The Checkmates afterwards. Was with "Ferris Wheel" for three years but came off the road to do sessions two years with Roy Young Band and joined Medicine Head in November 1973. Half-brother of Emile Ford & The Checkmates
