Georg Katzer (born on 10th January 1935 in Habelschwerdt, Schlesien; died in Berlin on 7th May, 2019) was a German composer. Georg Katzer (born 1935 in Habelschwerdt, Germany, today Bystrzyca Kłodzka, Poland) studied piano and composition in Prague and East-Berlin at the Akademie der Künste. He became it's official member and founded the Studio für Experimentelle Musik in 1978. In 1980, he's appointed to teaching composition at the Akademie der Künste. His Works include vocal, chamber and symphonic compositions, an opera, two ballets, and since 1976 electroacoustic music. He also collaborated with Jazz / free improvising musicians: Johannes Bauer, Wolfgang Fuchs, Paul Lytton, Phil Minton, Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky, Radu Malfatti, Phil Wachsmann a.o..
