Blues singer and guitarist, born in Orlando, Florida, in 1910. Brown first made recordings for the Library of Congress in 1935. Later on in the 1930s he was associated with the Federal Arts Theatre, and as an actor he appeared in plays by Zora Neal Hurston, including her musical comedy "Polk County". He made more recordings for Joe Davis in New York 1943-1949, and for MGM in 1952. Later he returned to Florida, and reportedly died in a boating accident sometime in the 1960s.
