    Gösta Jonsson

    Swedish singer and musician, born Sep 14, 1905, died Dec 26, 1984.


    He started his career as a saxophonist in Helge Lindbergs Orkester, but formed an orchestra of his own with Tore Svensson during the 1920s (just the two of them playing accordion). Jonsson made his record debut as a musician in 1926 and as a singer in 1930 on the Decca label. In 1933 Jonsson became leader of the band at the club Savoy in Stockholm and moved to Sonora (2) as an artist. During the 1940s Jonsson toured Sweden and between 1947 and 1949 ran the theatre Vanadisteatern in Stockholm. In total, he recorded more than 500 tunes, whereof 300 for Sonora (2). Jonsson was killed in a accident on December 26, 1984.
