Austrian conductor and composer (born 11 October 1883, Vienna - died 8 August 1968, Zurich), friend of and strong advocate for Arnold Schoenberg, having conducted many of his works in Vienna and Berlin.
He emigrated to Russia in 1933, where he conducted in Leningrad and Moscow until 1937, when he emigrated again, this time to the United States.
He was the husband of the singer Erika Stiedry-Wagner.
