As a Pastor, he sang and played guitar in a gospel group. He was the Father of Bobby Womack, Harry Womack (Harris), Cecil Womack, Friendly Womack, Jr. and Curtis Womack. He encouraged his sons to pursue music and helped them to form the gospel quintet The Womack Brothers, prior to moving to secular R&B music and becoming the Valentinos.
