Freedonia

About

Freedonia is a national reference in Spain’s soul&funk music scene. The band was formed in Madrid by 8 musicians and a fire rising voice and has a powerful rhythmic section offering an incredible live show. What first started as an adventure in 2006 has kept on growing to the point they are always sold out. After releasing their first album in 2012, bearing the name Freedonia, they released a second album named Dignity and Freedom in 2014, which became a great success. Thanks to these two, they were established as one of the top bands in the black music scene. In 2017 they published Shenobi, a double album, stated by the media as “one of the most expected releases of the year”. Through Crowdfunding, Freedonia released their fourth album, Conciencia, influenced by Nobel Prize Jose Saramago’s speech in which he reflects on the society we live in. The songs talk about freedom of speech, change of mindset, equality, respect, xenophobia, justice, progress…. In the end, Freedonia does what it does best, which is to raise awareness while making the audience dance to their memorable melodies.
