American journalist, poet and lyricist. Born February 22, 1857 Charleston, South Carolina, USA. Died January 7, 1927 (aged 69) Atlanta, Georgia, USA. ASCAP IPI #: 00029455471. [b]Easy to mix up with songwriter [a1612848].[/b] He was a columnist for the [i]Atlanta Constitution[/i] and in 1925 became the first poet laureate of the State of Georgia, a post to which Stanton held until his death.
