    Francesco Goffriller

Francesco Goffriller (1692—1750) was an Italian luthier and maker of violins, violas, and cellos who represented the early XVII-century Venetian school. Long misattributed as the brother of Matteo Goffriller (1659—1742), he was finally identified as his son; Francesco apprenticed at Matteo's workshop between 1709 and 1714 before relocating to Udine at twenty-two, when he worked independently until 1739. Some of the notable musicians who performed on Francesco Goffriller instruments include Jacqueline Du Pré, Pablo Casals, and Daniel Müller-Schott.
