Formed by keyboard player, producer Frank Van Bogaert and keyboard player William Beckers, soon joined by Californian guitarist Marty Townsend and drummer Marcus Weymaere. British bassist Nick Beggs (ex-Kajagoogoo–Steven Wilson–Steve Hackett...) became a full bandmember since their third release Godspeed, after having guested on the second album Airborne. Beckers left the band after their fourth release Quiet Life.

Fish on Friday is in fact nowadays more of an international collective featuring two Belgians, one Brit and one American. The band is signed to UK label [l=Esoteric recordings] (of the parent label [l=Cherry Red Records Ltd.]) securing worldwide distribution.

Up till now the band released five albums, their latest Black Rain in 2020, and one compilation (An Initiation 2010-2017). The band plays excellent crossover progressive music accessible to both pop and prog music listeners.
