    Founding member and lead vocalist of Chicago-based soul/funk group The Chi-Lites from the 1960s until leaving for a solo career in the mid-1970s. Re-joined The Chi-Lites in 1980. In 1988 he left the Chi-Lites again to become a gospel singer. He wrote and produced many of their hits, also produced other artists.
